WESTCLIFFE, CO –September 5, 2023 -  The Town of Westcliffe is eager to announce the finalization of design for Phase II street improvements focused on increased parking, enhanced pedestrian facilities, and improved drainage in the west region of the town.

Project Details:

The Town of Westcliffe is wrapping up the design of Phase II street improvements to accommodate additional parking and improved pedestrian facilities and drainage on the west side of town, on S. Adams Blvd from Main Street to Rosita Ave, and on Rosita Ave from 2nd Street to S. Adams Blvd.

The project also includes improvements on 2nd Street south of Rosita, and on 3rd Street north of Rosita, as well as a new sidewalk on S Adams from Rosita Ave to the Vista Celeste Apartments.

The project will add 7’ sidewalks and diagonal parking in most areas as well as curb and gutter to improve drainage and is paid for by grant funds secured by the Town and administered by CDOT (through Multimodal Transportation and Mitigation Options Fund (MMOF) and Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grants). The project will be advertised this winter for construction in the spring and summer of 2024.

Public Meeting:
The public is invited to attend a Public Meeting for the project on Monday, October 16th, from 5pm to 7pm at Cliff Lanes, 25 Main Street in Westcliffe. At the meeting, the project team will present the final design and answer questions about design considerations and construction impacts, as well as the anticipated schedule of activities between now and the start of construction.

Additional Developments:
A separate project aims to build curb, gutter, and sidewalk along Powell Ave between S 6th St and S Adams Blvd, to extend the existing trail and connect it to Bluff and Summit Park. That project is expected to be designed and constructed over the next 2 to 3 years as funding is secured.
